Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, the U.K. punk outfit helmed by former Gallows’ singer Frank Carter, return to North America this fall for a handful of live outings including performances at Aftershock Festival, Mexico’s Northside Festival and a pair of Southern California headlining dates.

“Cannot wait to be back on U.S. soil,” said Carter. “After living in New York for five years I feel a special kind of love for the country and I always feel incredibly lucky to bring our own venom laced rock ’n’ roll across the pond.

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes released Modern Ruin in January, with the 12-song album debuting at #7 on the UK album charts and collecting widespread praise from press worldwide. Dälek, who will release their eighth studio album, Endangered Philosophies, via Ipecac Recordings on Sept. 1, have announced the first North American tour in support of the 11-track release.

“We are very excited to tour extensively in the U.S.,” says MC Dälek. “While we have done some short runs supporting amazing acts like Publicist UK, Daughters, Candiria and Cult of Luna, we haven’t had a lengthy North American tour in quite a while. The Huntress and Holder of Hands, who recently announced the release of their debut album (Avalon, Sept. 15), kick off a three week U.S. tour on Sept. 15 in the band’s hometown of Warren, R.I at Hope & Main.

“Warren has been experiencing an influx of music and art, and I’m thrilled to be part of that,” explains The Huntress and Holder of Hands’ founder and beloved member of the duo, Brown Bird. “It feels incredible to finally be bringing this project out into the world, and to begin and end in Warren and Providence feels like a ‘coming home’ to the musical life and community I belong in.”

“I had a very conscious realization that either I start writing my own music or I never touch music ever again,” Swain says of her decision to return to music following the passing of her musical partner and husband Dave Lamb. “It seemed totally black-and-white to me. I thought, ‘If I don’t do this now, and if too much time passes, I’ll never do it.’

Just as Brown Bird was taking flight, with a handful of acclaimed albums, nonstop touring, and a star-making performance at the Newport Folk Festival, Lamb was diagnosed with leukemia. Though the year-long ordeal that followed was full of incredible support and unwavering hope, he succumbed in April 2014, gone far too soon at 36, leaving Swain on her own to carry a torch for the duo’s brief but enduring legacy.

Swain sings, plays viola, guitar, bass and ukulele in The Huntress and Holder of Hands. Rounding out the line-up are Emily Dix Thomas (cello/vocals), Liz Isenberg (double bass/vocals), James Maple (drums) and Spencer Swain (electric bass/violin).

Periphery and Animals As Leaders team up for what is sure to be one of the year’s most talked about tours, launching a North American trek, dubbed The Convergence Tour, on Oct. 31.

“This tour is a long time coming,” said Animals As Leaders’ guitar player Tosin Abasi. “Beyond being some of our favorite musicians, the guys in Periphery are some of our favorite people! Our careers share common roots and at times, common members. We can’t wait to bring this show to you all.”

“We are incredibly excited to hit the road with our good friends in Animals as Leaders this fall,” adds Periphery guitar player Mark Holcomb. “While we’ve done some short runs and one-off shows with AAL over the years, the idea to do a full-scale, co-headlining tour of North America has been something both our camps have discussed for the better part of seven years. Unfortunately, we were never able to line things up. Until now. We were also able to snag two amazing bands for portions of this tour as well, Car Bomb for the first half and Astronoid for the second half. ”

Animals As Leaders released their fourth album, The Madness of Many, last fall via Sumerian Records. Pitchfork dubbed the 10-track album “a dense and triumphant brand of instrumental metal,” while Alternative Press noted that the three-piece “continue to cut through genre restrictions.” Periphery, who also released their most recent album, Periphery III: Select Difficulty, via Sumerian discussed the album with Guitar World, saying they “returned to their mantra” which made recording far easier and faster, and led guitar player Misha Mansoor to dub it his “personal favorite.”

Dreadnought, the Denver-based, co-ed foursome whose sophomore album, Bridging Realms, was featured on a variety of year end lists in 2015, return with A Wake In Sacred Waves on Oct. 6 via Sailor Records. Decibel Magazine shares the first new music from the four-song, 51-minute album, streaming new song, “Within Chanting Waters” (http://decibelmagazine.com/blog/2017/7/19/track-premiere-dreadnought-calls-you-within-chanting-waters​​​​​​​).

“Each album is loosely based on an element,” explains singer/guitar player/flautist Kelly Schilling. “Lifewoven was earth, Bridging Realms was ether, and this is our water album. You could think of them like Zelda temples. We wanted to make this a little bit darker and heavier because we were going through heavier parts of our lives. This record tells a story about the process of life and death. A sea creature evolves into an apex predator, takes over everything, and then falls from grace. It mirrors humanity’s own existential struggle.”

The band, which features drummer/saxophone player Jordan Clancy, bass player Kevin Handlon and singer/keyboard player Lauren Vieira, recorded the album at The Boar’s Nest (Salt Lake City) with SubRosa’s Andy Patterson recording and mixing the collection.

Maynard James Keenan, front man of A Perfect Circle, Puscifer and TOOL, will be joined by fourteen friends over the course of his forthcoming A Perfect Union of Contrary Things (Nov. 8, Backbeat Books) tour including Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil, A Perfect Circle’s Billy Howerdel and The Flaming Lips’ Steven Drozd.

Keenan, who is known for not merely being protective about his personal life but at times pointedly cagey and misleading about his history, will participate in a moderated discussion about the book and his decision to share such intimate details about his life. The special evening also includes Keenan reading passages from A Perfect Union of Contrary Things with a backdrop of never before seen photos and videos, as well as taking questions from the audience in what will be a rare moment of direct interaction between the elusive musician and the fans of his projects.

The video was filmed in the contrasting locations of New York City and ruins within Juarez, Mexico. “The juxtaposition of the video’s setting, place and time is a roller coaster of emotional history,” says Teri Gender Bender. “Juarez. A lost city re-emerging. New York City. Feeling lost in a city that has always been emerging. The duality is a constant in every feeling and every way.”

“My Mallely” appeared on Le Butcherettes’ 2015 album, A Raw Youth (Ipecac Recordings). NPR said of the album, “[Gender Bender’s] combination of force and keen observation is reminiscent of Corin Tucker at her best, though Gender Bender’s performance is all her own,” while Noisey said listening to A Raw Youth “is what it feels like to discover Iggy Pop and Black Flag as you watch your village in Mexico get torn apart by psychological terror.”
