Rock Sound called the release “a modern day punk revolution,” Alternative Press gave the album four stars, describing it as “frenzied punk” and “incredibly powerful” while Rolling Stone Australia dubbed the album “a rifle grenade.” Frank recently visited Spotify’s studios to record acoustic versions of “Snake Eyes” and “Wildflowers,” which can be heard here: http://smarturl.it/FCATRspotifysingles.

“Warren has been experiencing an influx of music and art, and I’m thrilled to be part of that,” explains The Huntress and Holder of Hands’ founder and beloved member of the duo, Brown Bird. “It feels incredible to finally be bringing this project out into the world, and to begin and end in Warren and Providence feels like a ‘coming home’ to the musical life and community I belong in.”

The dates come as the band shares the first full song from the forthcoming, 10-song release, “Borealis” (http://soundcloud.com/supplyanddemand/borealis).

“I had a very conscious realization that either I start writing my own music or I never touch music ever again,” Swain says of her decision to return to music following the passing of her musical partner and husband Dave Lamb. “It seemed totally black-and-white to me. I thought, ‘If I don’t do this now, and if too much time passes, I’ll never do it.’

Just as Brown Bird was taking flight, with a handful of acclaimed albums, nonstop touring, and a star-making performance at the Newport Folk Festival, Lamb was diagnosed with leukemia. Though the year-long ordeal that followed was full of incredible support and unwavering hope, he succumbed in April 2014, gone far too soon at 36, leaving Swain on her own to carry a torch for the duo’s brief but enduring legacy.

Swain sings, plays viola, guitar, bass and ukulele in The Huntress and Holder of Hands. Rounding out the line-up are Emily Dix Thomas (cello/vocals), Liz Isenberg (double bass/vocals), James Maple (drums) and Spencer Swain (electric bass/violin).

    July 25, 2017 by SpeakeasyPR

Periphery and Animals As Leaders team up for what is sure to be one of the year’s most talked about tours, launching a North American trek, dubbed The Convergence Tour, on Oct. 31.

“This tour is a long time coming,” said Animals As Leaders’ guitar player Tosin Abasi. “Beyond being some of our favorite musicians, the guys in Periphery are some of our favorite people! Our careers share common roots and at times, common members. We can’t wait to bring this show to you all.”

“We are incredibly excited to hit the road with our good friends in Animals as Leaders this fall,” adds Periphery guitar player Mark Holcomb. “While we’ve done some short runs and one-off shows with AAL over the years, the idea to do a full-scale, co-headlining tour of North America has been something both our camps have discussed for the better part of seven years. Unfortunately, we were never able to line things up. Until now. We were also able to snag two amazing bands for portions of this tour as well, Car Bomb for the first half and Astronoid for the second half. ”

Animals As Leaders released their fourth album, The Madness of Many, last fall via Sumerian Records. Pitchfork dubbed the 10-track album “a dense and triumphant brand of instrumental metal,” while Alternative Press noted that the three-piece “continue to cut through genre restrictions.” Periphery, who also released their most recent album, Periphery III: Select Difficulty, via Sumerian discussed the album with Guitar World, saying they “returned to their mantra” which made recording far easier and faster, and led guitar player Misha Mansoor to dub it his “personal favorite.”

  6. Dreadnought Release A Wake In Sacred Waves On Oct. 6; Decibel Premieres “Within Chanting Waters”

    July 19, 2017 by SpeakeasyPR

Dreadnought, the Denver-based, co-ed foursome whose sophomore album, Bridging Realms, was featured on a variety of year end lists in 2015, return with A Wake In Sacred Waves on Oct. 6 via Sailor Records. Decibel Magazine shares the first new music from the four-song, 51-minute album, streaming new song, “Within Chanting Waters” (http://decibelmagazine.com/blog/2017/7/19/track-premiere-dreadnought-calls-you-within-chanting-waters).

“Each album is loosely based on an element,” explains singer/guitar player/flautist Kelly Schilling. “Lifewoven was earth, Bridging Realms was ether, and this is our water album. You could think of them like Zelda temples. We wanted to make this a little bit darker and heavier because we were going through heavier parts of our lives. This record tells a story about the process of life and death. A sea creature evolves into an apex predator, takes over everything, and then falls from grace. It mirrors humanity’s own existential struggle.”

The band, which features drummer/saxophone player Jordan Clancy, bass player Kevin Handlon and singer/keyboard player Lauren Vieira, recorded the album at The Boar’s Nest (Salt Lake City) with SubRosa’s Andy Patterson recording and mixing the collection.

  8. Bayside Announce Acoustic Tour;Vacancy 7-inch

    October 11, 2016 by SpeakeasyPR

Bayside, who recently released their “brilliant” (Outburn) album Vacancy, release a 7-inch of the same name today, featuring non-album track “This Could Be Our Lives” as well as an acoustic version of “The Ghost” with guest Chris Conley (Saves The Day). A digital version of the 7-inch is also available now, and includes the bonus track “Not Fair” (acoustic).

The band has also confirmed a brief acoustic tour with VIP tickets available now and general pre-sale on Friday. Hawthorne Heights opens. Dates are:

December 16 Pawtucket, RI The Met
December 17 Poughkeepsie, NY The Chance
December 18 Lancaster, PA Chameleon Club
December 20 Wilmington, DE World Café Live
    December 21 Baltimore, MD Ottobar
December 22 Asbury Park, NJ House of Independents
December 23 Brooklyn, NY The Bell House

“We have always set out to be a band that had many layers to our music,” explains Anthony Raneri. “We’ve always considered ourselves a punk band that wrote pretty complex songs that really stray from the standard straight forward punk song. Ever since our acoustic record in 2005, acoustic versions of our songs have been a great tool in our arsenal to showcase the depths of our songs without the layers of distortion.”

The Vacancy 7-inch can be purchased here: http://bayside.merchnow.com/products/v2/228587/vacancy-transparent-blue-7. The digital version is available via iTunes (http://smarturl.it/Vacancy7inch) and is streaming via Spotify (http://smarturl.it/Vacancy7inchSpotify) and Apple Music (smarturl.it/Vacancy7inchAM).

Bayside released Vacancy in August of this year and followed the release with an extensive North American tour. The Tim O’Heir (Sebadoh, Hedwig And The Angry Inch) produced album was recorded during Raneri’s time at a Nashville hotel following the dissolution of his marriage. “I wanted this record to be more about what’s happening to me as opposed to having it be all about a disintegrating relationship,” said Raneri when discussing the themes behind the 11-song release. Alternative Press said “the band have fully embraced their theatrical side, creating rock music worthy of filling any arena”, while Magnet described Vacancy as “hook-heavy” and “giant-riffed.”

Prior to the band’s December acoustic tour, Bayside heads to Australia:

November 3 Bunbury Wa, Australia Prince of Wales
    November 4 Perth, Australia Amplifier
November 5 Adelaide Sa, Australia Fowlers Live

  10. Le Butcherettes premiere “My Mallely” video via Consequence of Sound

    October 5, 2016 by SpeakeasyPR

LE BUTCHERETTES DEBUT “MY MALLELY” VIDEO VIA CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND
    http://consequenceofsound.net/2016/10/le-butcherettes-premiere-new-video-for-my-mallely-directed-by-omar-rodriguez-lopez-watch/

VIDEO ARRIVES AS TERI GENDER BENDER-FRONTED OUTFIT TOURS EUROPE

Oct. 5, 2016, Vienna, Austria – Le Butcherettes, who are in the midst of a European tour, debuted the Omar Rodriguez-Lopez directed video for “My Mallely” via Consequence of Sound (http://consequenceofsound.net/2016/10/le-butcherettes-premiere-new-video-for-my-mallely-directed-by-omar-rodriguez-lopez-watch/).

The video was filmed in the contrasting locations of New York City and ruins within Juarez, Mexico. “The juxtaposition of the video’s setting, place and time is a roller coaster of emotional history,” says Teri Gender Bender. “Juarez. A lost city re-emerging. New York City. Feeling lost in a city that has always been emerging. The duality is a constant in every feeling and every way.”

“My Mallely” appeared on Le Butcherettes’ 2015 album, A Raw Youth (Ipecac Recordings). NPR said of the album, “[Gender Bender’s] combination of force and keen observation is reminiscent of Corin Tucker at her best, though Gender Bender’s performance is all her own,” while Noisey said listening to A Raw Youth “is what it feels like to discover Iggy Pop and Black Flag as you watch your village in Mexico get torn apart by psychological terror.”

Le Butcherettes, whose live shows are unparalleled, play Vienna this evening (full tour dates below). The Dallas Observer smartly described a Le Butcherettes’ live performance, “TGB is so free and untethered and immensely talented that she should be everyone’s hero. We can all learn something by watching someone scarily good enough to write a song like “Bang!” (which, if PJ Harvey had written it, we’d still all be talking about in hushed tones today) hopping around the stage in the style of a crab that’s having an aneurysm, a wall of hair covering her face, screaming off into the middle distance where there is absolutely no microphone.”

    Tour dates:
    October 5 Vienna, Austria B72
    October 7 Zurich, Switzerland Dynamo
    October 8 Milan, Italy Tunnel
October 10 Valencia, Spain Loco Club
