PHILADELPHIA, Mar. 12 — As Royal Thunder prep for their debut full-length’s arrival (CVI, May 22 via Relapse Records), the quartet have added a pair of dates (Houston and New Orleans) to their current tour as well and confirming their Mar. 16 performance on Relapse’s Official SXSW showcase.
The Atlanta-based band released a self-titled EP in 2010 which won praise from a wide variety of outlets including Paste Magazine (“blues-infused rock’n’roll, wrapped in protective barbed-metal packaging”), NPR (“a revved-up Southern hard-rocker that howls like Led Zeppelin astride a psychedelic unicorn”) Brooklyn Vegan (“Johnette Napolitano of Concrete Blonde fronting Black Sabbath”) and Terrorizer (“‘Royal Thunder’ grabs you right from the first listen”).
Royal Thunder recently recorded an Indie ATL session, which singer Mlny Parsonz described as an “awesome experience.” Footage will be available shortly.
