Royal Thunder & Pitchfork Give Free “Black Water Vision” Download

April 3, 2013, Philadelphia – Royal Thunder and Pitchfork are giving fans a free download of the Atlanta band’s stirring acoustic rendition of “Black Water Vision” (http://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/15230-black-water-vision-acoustic/).
Recorded earlier this year, the acoustic version is a testament to the relatively new band’s musical prowess which was echoed by David Fricke (Rolling Stone) in his recent appraisal of the band’s SXSW performance: “heavy with the meaty, base elements of early-Seventies British blues in guitarist Josh Weaver’s harmonic-fuzz sustain and a striking vocal change-up in bassist Mlny Parsonz, whose robust projection and supple vibrato made me think of Jefferson Airplane’s Grace Slick at a lower, godless pitch.”
Decibel Magazine debuts an acoustic version of “Whispering World” as their July flexi disc.  Royal Thunder recently participated in the ongoing Converse x Decibel Collaboration video series, where the quartet discusses the necessary sacrifices to be in a touring band (http://www.decibelmagazine.com/converse/converse-x-decibel-royal-thunder-do-quit-their-day-jobs/).
The Atlanta band released their debut album CVI in May 2012.  The release was called a “stunning breakthrough” by Spin, Revolver called the album “essential” listening and Decibel placed singer Mlny Parsonz on the cover of their inaugural women in metal issue.  Royal Thunder closed out 2012 with multiple year end/best of accolades including the Village Voice (#10 on Top Ten Metal Albums of 2012), Spin (#6 on 20 Best Metal Albums of 2012) and #11 on Revolver’s 20 Best Albums of the year.
