“Progressive, weird, snotty post-punk with a real sense of humor and grandiosity. This music is just bursting with creativity.”

NPR (All Songs Considered)

Famously explosive live, mclusky sound just as noisy on their comeback album… Enjoy the ride.” – Pitchfork

“…mclusky’s signature sardonic humor is ever-present, along with the uncompromising lyrical punches of vocalist/guitarist Andrew Falkous.”

Consequence

“…a frantic riff-beast…” – Stereogum

“…as sneering and sarcastic as ever…” – Brooklyn Vegan

“autofocus on the prime directive” video

may 12, 2025 – mclusky’s unexpected yet eagerly-awaited new album the world is still here and so are we arrived last week via ipecac recordings. today, they continue their partnership with director remy lamont, a collaboration that has produced a series of standout videos matching the band’s wit and intensity, with the release of their latest clip, “autofocus on the prime directive” (http://mclusky.lnk.to/autofocus).

“‘autofocus on the prime directive’ is a series of patently untrue statements set to music by a man who can barely dress himself,” andrew falkous offers, in a truly andrew falkous way. “the title is not a reference to ‘star trek’ in any way but if it was I hope you’d understand.”

the album is available now (https://mclusky.lnk.to/world) with the world is still here and so are we available on multiple limited-edition vinyl variants (marble vinyl and 180 gram black vinyl), an indie store exclusive clear vinyl, as well as a standard blue vinyl. the release is also available on CD and digital formats.

formed in cardiff, wales in the late ‘90s, mclusky quickly became one of the most beloved underground punk bands of their era, known for their biting lyrics, angular riffs, and chaotic live shows. The band released three critically-acclaimed albums – mclusky do dallas (2002), the difference between me and you is that I’m not on fire (2004) and my pain and sadness is more sad and painful than yours (2000) – before disbanding in 2005. Since reforming in 2019, they’ve continued to bring their ferocious energy to stages, with their fourth album, the world is still here and so are we, released in the spring of 2025 via ipecac recordings. mclusky is damien sayell (bass, vocals), jack egglestone (drums, vocals, percussion), and andrew falkous (guitar, vocals)
